Fall is heating up
Everybody’s talking about the weather this week, so I might as well do the same. Sure, I’ll be a follower this one time.
Welcome to summer, as we enter fall. It’s a tad strange to be having the hottest weather of the year as we usher out the alleged hottest season of the year.
While I’m not going on a rant about how wonderful it is to be able to lay out in the yard this time of year or complain about how I miss the laziness of a summer afternoon, I am going to say I really like the variety we get in this province.
Yes, it was enjoyable spending last weekend at the beach, but I also got turbocharged Monday morning when I woke up to cloud, grey and rain. There’s something refreshing and motivating to me about that.
Lots of people say rain ruins their day. I could understand a farmer saying that sometimes, but for me it inspires me to get stuff done. My job doesn’t involve me being outside but with the cool breeze and listening to rain as I wake up, it gives me a jumpstart to want to accomplish a lot that day.
I can appreciate any kind of weather. As long as it’s not a tornado ripping apart my house, I welcome whatever Mother Nature has in store for us hearty Manitobans.
I remember last Thanksgiving weekend when it was rainy and cool out, I walked to the store and loaded up on Halloween decorations and went nuts decorating the front window and living room. The rain got me creative. I can’t explain why, it just did.
What’s my underlying message this week? The weather might have been crappy this summer and got many people in a bad mood, but look how we’re rewarded if we just have a bit of patience.
