Recently in your To the Point column you've been critical about the war in Afghanistan.  Have your thoughts changed?
-Lois
My thoughts are the same as a lot of Canadians.  And poll after poll is showing that the support for what the government has agreed to is not in the best interest of the military.  I think I've kind of been in one of those, "I'm just going to shut up until they realize they are being stupid" moods.  You can talk 'til you're blue in the face and it wouldn't matter.  I know I'm not personally getting involved in the matter so I'm just going to continue on with my routine.  If I ever feel unsafe in Canada, I'll pick up and move somewhere else.  I think we have a great country and our reputation is being tarnished so much that we are now being perceived as a threat to other nations.

Do you agree with hitting pets if they are bad?
-Fran
I think you mean an animal that is misbehaving.  No, I don't think hitting anyone or anything is the correct way to fix a problem.  I've seen pet owners out walking the dog and pulling on its leash and almost strangling the dog to get it walking again and I'm not sure if that is correcting any behaviour or if it is just strangling the poor animal.  I rarely raise my voice and I certainly don't yell to get my point across.  I've found that my pets respond better to me than most people's because I don't scare them and try to make them feel afraid if they do something wrong.  How often do you see the same pet owners time and time again punishing and freaking out on their pets?  Obviously their technique isn't working.  I have very well behaved pets in my house.

What's your favourite Halloween candy?
-Emily
I don't eat much candy now.  When I was of trick-or-treating age it was either lollipops or those Rockets candies.  They were the roll of crunchy tangy candies that you pull the wrapper on both ends to open it.  I think I probably had too much as a kid because now I don't really like junk food.

There's been a lack of celebrity interviews lately.  Are you still adding to that part of the website?
-Amber
No way!  That has been, and still is, one of the most popular features on the site.  But because SpeakFree has so many different areas and over 200 pages, it's tough to produce so much new content every week.  SpeakFree Celebrity Sightings is just like a TV show that's gone on hiatus for a little bit.  We had a really strong push in the spring and then a very busy summer with Idol Watch, which, to date has been the biggest draw for visitors to the site.  It's time to take a break right now.  We're in the process of lining up some great interviews for early winter.  Check back soon!

I've listened to your radio show.  Where is that produced out of?
-Mark
All of the content associated with To the Point, SpeakFree and Top of The Charts is produced in our offices.  There is some pretty cool equipment here, half of which I still don't know how to use, but it comes in very handy.  We're very lucky that we have talented people like Scott Larson who does the sound effects and voiceovers for us and a great team to put everything together.
